City Roast is our most traditional blend, created for those who prefer a straightforward cup with depth, strength and a familiar roasted edge. It is built primarily on Brazilian Arabica supported by a quarter of high-quality Robusta. The recipe follows a style that defined European espresso for decades, when coffee was roasted for body and intensity rather than brightness.

We roast City Roast fairly dark to develop structure and sweetness while keeping the flavour balanced. This approach creates a cup that is full and comforting without being heavy or harsh. The goal is a well-built coffee that feels familiar with enough roast character to stand out, while also maintaining some smoothness.

The aroma carries roasted nuts, smoke and chocolate notes. The flavour leans toward charred nuts, toasted grain and cocoa with a faint touch of spice. Acidity is low, the texture dense and coating, and the finish long with a lingering smoky sweetness.

City Roast is an uncomplicated coffee that holds its own as espresso, in milk, or as a strong morning brew. It is a reminder of why simple, well-made coffee continues to have such loyal appeal.

Impact at origin

Through Impact Trade, part of the funds from coffees used in City Roast have supported long-term community projects in Brazil. At Fazenda Progresso in Bahia, the partnership has funded the construction and ongoing maintenance of a community medical center and a fully equipped school, both serving families in the Roncador area. The school now educates around 60 children and offers extracurricular programs in sustainability and culture, while the medical center provides free healthcare, dental services, and preventive care through a public–private partnership with the local municipality. The next phase of this collaboration focuses on installing an artesian well and clean water distribution system to ensure reliable access to drinking water for the surrounding community
